Chippewa Nature Center is named after the Chippewa River, which flows through much of Midland County. The Ojibwa, or Chippewa Indians lived along its shores in seasonal camps for many generations through the mid-1800s. Other local rivers, such as the Tittabawassee, Kawkawlin and Shiawassee also have Ojibwa names.

CNC's Log Schoolhouse is open Sunday afternoons, Memorial Day till Labor Day, from 1:30-5:00pm.

The Nature Study Building is home to Nature Day Camp all summer!

The Homestead Cabin was reconstructed at CNC in the mid-1970s. Sunday afternoon visitors, from Memorial Day through Labor Day learn about life on an 1870s farm through tours and special programs.

Almost three miles long, the River Trail is the longest walking path at CNC. It winds its way along the Pine and Chippewa Rivers, through woods and fields and along the edges of ponds.
